This past Tuesday night, the Mexia Ladycats closed out their non-district schedule in grand fashion, picking up their fourth straight win by sweeping the Vanguard Lady Vikings at home, 25-22, 25-22, 25-11.
Coach Randy Barger’s team battled during the first two sets before cruising to a 14-point win in the final set that ended the match.
The Ladycats took a 9-4 lead in the last set, thanks in part to the strong net play by J’Maya Strain and Keiana Keith. Both front court hitters had two kills in the stretch and Baileah Thompson had an ace serving.
Vanguard cut the Mexia lead down to four, but the Ladycats went on a tirade and scored nine of the next 11 points to move ahead 18-7.
