Mexia Tennis take five wins over Palestine

The Mexia Blackcats tennis team fought hard against the Palestine Wildcats last Thursday afternoon and came away with five wins out of the 19 matches play.
Dilyn Busby and Karla Fuentes came from behind in girls’ doubles and defeated Palestine’s Cassidy Lupo and Kassidy Turner, 2-6, 6-4, (10-7).
Mattie Crosby and Mireya Olvera did the same as they bounced back after a first set loss, beating Palestine’s Morgan Lasiter and Taylor Kelly, 2-6, 6-4, (12-10).
In boys’ singles, Bryan Cisneros split two sets before gaining the win in the tie-breaker, finishing the match 6-4, 3-6, (10-8).
Mexia’s Mauricio Gonzalez put up a good fight against Palestine’s Salvador Castillo. Castillo ended up on top, 3-6, 6-4, (10-4).
In girls’ singles, Nyvea Livingston defeated Palestine’s Lupo, 8-5 and Busby knocked off Lily Nolan, 8-1.
Also competing for Mexia boys’ doubles were Timothy Boulware and Eric Le; Moises Avila and Gonzalez; and Carlos Dominguez and Bryan Cisneros.
Jessica Gonzalez and Aileen Medina teamed up in girls’ doubles, while Aileen Medina, Gonzalez, Dyanne Velazquez and Alexis Resendiz all competed in girls’ singles.
Abisai Canizales, Boulware, Le, Moises Avila and Gonzalez competed in boys’ singles.
Mexia is scheduled to be in Athens today with match play beginning at 4 p.m.
