The Coolidge Lady Yellowjackets cruised to a three-set sweep over the Mount Calm Lady Panthers for the second time in district play this season, 25-6, 25-14, 25-14, to improve their district mark to 6-3.
Tiayae Henry served up seven points late in the second set, including an ace and Gabriela Samaniego closed it out with the final two points.
After handily winning the first set by 19, the Lady Yellowjackets found themselves down by four to the Lady Panthers at 8-12 early in the second set, but big plays at the net by Tionna Kirven helped Coolidge work their way into the lead.
In the third set, Coolidge started on top until Mount Calm put together a short 3-0 run to take the lead at 5-3.
Trailing by one a short time later with Kirven at the service line, Samaniego set the ball up on a return shot for teammate Jada Hayes. Hayes shot up in the air and pounded the ball down on Lady Panther defenders for the kill to tie the set at 5-5.
From there, Coolidge never looked back as they came out on top again by 11.
The Lady Yellowjackets were scheduled to play district opponent Mart today, then travel to Wortham next Friday to face the district leading Lady Bulldogs.
