Mexia families to get help applying for college funds

Mexia High School seniors who need help paying for college next year should save the date of Nov. 1, and plan on going to the high school that evening to get started applying for student aid.
Financial aid experts will be on hand in the school’s computer labs to help families complete their FAFSA application from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 1.
FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is the first step to take for virtually any aid because many financial aid programs require a completed FAFSA to determine not only whether a student qualifies for financial aid, but how much they may receive.
Mexia ISD Superintendent Dr. Lyle DuBus pointed out that students should file the FAFSA even if they are not sure what they will do next year.
