Ladycats sweep Palestine in three

The second round of district play got underway Tuesday evening for the Mexia Ladycats, facing the Palestine Lady Wildcats on the road this time.
Back in late September, Palestine gave Mexia a tough match at Black Cat Gym, in which the crimson and black came from behind after losing the first set to win the next three, but it wasn’t easy.
This time around, the Ladycats won the first set and never looked back as they swept Palestine 25-17, 25-14, 25-21, to move to 4-1 in district play.
After trailing 1-0 at the start of the first set, setter Baileah Thompson led the Mexia offense to a good start by serving up the first seven points to help give the Ladycats an 8-1 advantage.
Kill shots by Camrye Smith and Keiana Keith kept the Ladycats at a five-point distance a short time later at 10-5.
Mexia extended their lead to eight mid-way in the set and that would end up being the difference at the end after Heaven Porch smashed over a kill and Precious Daily served the final two points.
