Mexia Varsity, JV boys XC finish first

Mexia cross country coach Britney Dietz had a lot to smile about last Saturday, as the varsity boys team came home from the Golden Eagle Run in Fairfield with the first-place trophy, as did the junior varsity boys team and the varsity girls team finished third out of nine teams competing.
Diego Rivera, Lalo Ortiz and Angel Escamilla all finished in the top 10 of the varsity boys race.
Rivera came in second out of the field of 59 competitors, finishing in a time of 17:07.04. Ortiz placed fourth with his time of 17:48.32 and Escamilla took seventh with a time of 17:53.37.
Danny Prado and Manny Acevedo made the top 20 for the varsity. Prado took the No. 14 spot with a time of 18:42.17, while Acevedo crossed the finish line at No. 16 with a time of 18:49.81.
