Sweep number 15 is in the books after the Wortham Lady Bulldogs cruised past the Penelope Lady Wolverines in three sets, 25-8, 25-9, 25-11, and pushed their district win-loss mark to 13-0.
Coach DeAnna Whaley stated that her team came out strong during opening play of the district match Friday afternoon at home, playing an all-around match and worked really well as a team, especially with three of their toughest matches still ahead in district play.
“We are really focusing on communication and moving as a team,” said Whaley. “We have three hard teams (left) ending our district and my girls really showed today that they are ready to continue our winning streak and take on the playoffs.”
Libero Hallie Fautt and defensive specialist Megan Whaley took care of the teams needs on defense. Fautt finished with nine digs and contributed offensively with eight aces and a kill. Whaley finished the match with three digs.
