Mexia’s Scott Condon, whose hard work and renovating touch is seen all over downtown Mexia, was named Citizen of the Year Tuesday at the Mexia Area Chamber of Commerce Awards Dinner.
The honors for Organization of the year went to Caritas of Mexia, whose food pantry feeds many of Limestone County; and whose thrift store offers used clothing and household items for pennies on the dollar.
The Mexia Civic Center was filled Tuesday with city leaders and other caring citizens for the Awards Dinner. Those attending shared a meal catered by the Farm House Restaurant, featuring chicken fried chicken, sides and dessert. FFA student volunteers served the attendees at their tables. The Rev. Marcus Sheffield emceed the event, with help from Chamber President Linda Archibald and Outgoing Chair Clint Flatt. Pianist Linda Fox provided background music during the meal.
