An emotional night for the Wortham Lady Bulldogs, as they honored their senior players and welcomed back to the gym junior varsity and varsity player, Reagan Stuver.
According to coach DeAnna Whaley, Stuver underwent surgery last Friday for chiari malformation - which are structural defects in the base of the skull and cerebellum, the part of the brain that controls balance - and returned home on Monday, was determined to come to the game and be a part of the team.
Although she couldn’t play, Stuver cheered for her teammates throughout the match with the Mart Lady Panthers.
Mart proved to be a tough match-up Tuesday evening, taking the now No. 7 ranked Lady Bulldogs to five sets. Despite the consecutive sweep streak broken after the first set, Wortham wouldn’t relinquish their unbeaten mark in district as they held on to win 25-14, 21-25, 25-23, 23-25, 15-11, putting their district mark at 16-0.
With the match tied at 2-2, broke the Lady Panthers serve in the final set with a kill shot from Kayla Lansford.
