The Coolidge Yellow Jackets took a huge step toward a district championship with a 38-28 come from behind win against a very good Aquilla Cougar team at the Coolidge Yellow Jacket Sports Complex last Friday night.
Yellowjacket coach Wayne Ware gave credit for the win to his defense, led by Junior J. J. Acevedo. The defense did bend in the first half but refused to break at “Crunch Time” in the fourth quarter. They shut down a prolific
Cougar offense to keep the Yellowjackets undefeated in district play.
The game began with a successful Aquilla onside kick but both offenses were affected by the cold and windy weather. The Cougars fumbled the ball back to Coolidge.
