It wasn’t until the 5:24 mark before either Mexia or Waco put any points up on the scoreboard Tuesday afternoon, during their non-district basketball game before Thanksgiving.
But once the ball finally went through the net, the Ladycats never looked back as they ended up dominating the Lady Lions, 54-31, to move to 5-2 on the season.
Credit the Ladycats Williams for getting the party started when she pulled up for the two-point jumper, giving Mexia the early 2-0 lead.
Both teams came out in the first period in a defensive mindset, but Mexia was the only team that scored any points in the period. Four of those came from Williams and the other basket by Erica Nelms, giving the Ladycats a 6-0 advantage at the end of one.
