Changing rooms go up at Fairgrounds

Another project to improve the Limestone County Fairgrounds has been implemented, which is building changing rooms for the competitors who use the facility, and other improvements are in the works.
Fairgrounds Manager Kenneth Ellis credits longtime Fairgrounds supporter Penny Gray with coming up with the idea. Until now, contestants have had to change in the restrooms.
Gray was appointed in 2016 to head up a committee to develop ideas to improve the Fairgrounds, making the facility more attractive, not only to local youth, who frequently use the show barn, but also to potential customers, groups that might rent the Fairgrounds for their activities.
“This idea started a couple of years ago,” Ellis said. “Ms. Gray mentioned that it would be nice, especially for the ladies, to have a place to change other than the women’s restroom. So the idea was born from that, and we’ve been working on it ever since.”
