Coolidge coaches Ware, Cooper, Scheler honored District 14-1A Coach of the Year

This fall was an amazing ride for the Coolidge Yellowjackets football team and well noticed by the coaches in District 14-1A, as coach Wayne Ware and his coaching staff of Brian Cooper and Kevin Scheler were honored with the Coach of the Year award.
Other superlatives went to Roman Benjamin (Newcomer of the Year), Torrey Hoover (Offensive MVP) and Juan “J.J.” Acevedo (Defensive MVP).
Benjamin came on late in the season to make 11 catches for 220 yards and six touchdowns for Coolidge, while Hoover led the team in rushing with 151 carries for 1,811 yards and 24 touchdowns. He was also the team’s passing leader, completing 40 passes on 53 attempts for 819 yards and 19 touchdowns.
