Angel Escamilla, Lalo Ortiz and Kevin Garcia all scored two goals each as the Mexia Blackcats cruised by the Waco Connally Cadets 10-1 Tuesday evening at Black Cat Field.
Mexia jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the third-minute after Kevin Garcia drew the Cadet keeper out, then passed to Escamilla for the easy, dead-center kick into the net.
The Blackcats kept the offensive pressure in the Connally end of the field and in the seventh-minute, Mexia scored again after Garcia sent a crossing kick to Lalo Ortiz in front of the Cadet goal. Ortiz leaped in the air and tapped the ball into the left corner of the net to make it 2-0.
Ortiz scored again with a little over 17 minutes left before halftime, sending a long-range kick past the Cadet keeper to give the Blackcats a 3-0 advantage.
Four minutes later, Garcia maneuvered his way through Connally defenders with some nice footwork, breaking through and placing the ball into the right-side of the goal, making it 4-0 Mexia.
