Lady ’Dogs defeat rival Lady ’Jackets

A day after falling on the road to district foe Riesel, 20-4, the Wortham Lady Bulldogs bounced back to shut out the Coolidge Lady Yellowjackets at home, 15-0.
The Lady Bulldogs scored seven runs in the bottom of the first.
Hallie Fautt and Jayde Hamilton led off the inning with back-to-back walks. Skylar Phillips followed with a triple to center to score both runners.
Kayla Lansford singled in Phillips to make it 3-0. Samantha Wright was hit by a pitch to give Wortham runners at first and second.
One out later, Alex Munster drew a walk to load the bases.
Spring Hogan’s grounder to third resulted in an error, allowing Lansford to score. Reagan Stuver capped the inning’s scoring with a bases-clearing triple to left to give the Lady Bulldogs the seven-run lead.
