For two years Courtney Ingram was on the cusp of qualifying for the girls’ golf regional tournament. This year, the Mexia High School junior made it past district.
Ingram shot rounds of 112 and 120 in District 18-4A play and finished second among players competing as individual medalists to qualify for the regional tourney April 25-26 at Raven Nest Golf Club in Huntsville, which is the home course for the Sam Houston State University women’s golf team.
The top two teams and the top two individuals in district move on to the regional. Advancing past district was a goal for Ingram this year.
“It was my goal. I was trying my hardest to make it,” she said. “My first two years I missed it by just a couple of strokes. So I was trying to improve my game and hopefully make it this year. And I’m glad I did.”
