He was once the United Methodist District Superintendent for the Mexia District years ago. He was one of the final three candidates for Bishop when his heart wore out. He had to retire immediately for this medical reason. After years of waiting on the heart transplant list, he received a new heart 15 years ago. He is now 78.

Dewey Prairie Garden combats growing hunger problem in tri-county area

The NRG Dewey Prairie Garden in Donie aims to combat hunger in the “tri-county food desert,” Manager Debbie Glaze said. “People when they’re lined up, I know that they’re gonna get vegetables that they might not be able to afford at the grocery store,” Glaze said. “I think it’s impacting a lot of lives.”

This week at Mexia LTC we started off with Bible Study by Irma Carranza on Monday morning. Residents played bingo on Monday afternoon. Residents enjoyed Bible Group with Bob Kersten on Tuesday morning. Residents played bean bag toss on Tuesday afternoon.
