MISD tax ratification, Constitution Amendment election slated this fall

There will be two different elections this year on two very important dates. And to help avoid any confusion between the two, here is a summary of what each election entails.
Mexia Independent School District is having an election for tax ratification. This election will be for eligible voters who reside in the Mexia ISD boundaries only.
The Tax Ratification is the approving the Ad Valorem Tax rate of $1.33363 per hundred dollar valuation for the current year. This rate is $0.13 higher per $100 than the school rollback tax rate. The District says that this will generate an additional $1 million at a final tax rate of $1.20363, which is the same tax rate as in 2016.
Early voting will take place at 8 a.m. - 4 p.m., Oct. 2 through Oct. 10 at the Mexia ISD Admin Building. Election day will be from 7 a.m.-7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 14 at the Mexia Civic Center.
On Nov. 7 there will be a Constitutional Amendment Election. There will be seven amendments proposed as submitted by the 85th Legislature, Regular Session, to appear on the constitutional amendment ballot.
