Two arrested in Mexia drug bust

Mexia News Staff Report
A Teague woman and a Mexia man were arrested near Mexia on Sept. 19 and charged with drug and firearm violations.
Tiffaney Starr, 37, and Jimmy Dale Owens, 39, were arrested by a Limestone County deputy after a suspicious car was reported parked near the Mexia city limits.
The two were transported to the Limestone County Jail, where Starr was charged with possession of a controlled substance greater than 1 gram and less than 4 grams; possession of a dangerous drug; theft of a firearm and unlawfully carrying a weapon.
Owens was charged with unlawfully carrying a weapon and possession of less than 2 ounces of marijuana.
“Sgt. David Bell with the Heart of Texas Auto Theft Task Force was summoned to assist,” according to the Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page, which noted that the firearm in Starr’s possession had been stolen in a recent burglary in the county.
