Mexia boy’s XC team finishes fifth at Connally Cadet Invitational

The regular season for cross country will begin to wind down this month, but closing out September, the Mexia Blackcats team competed in the Connally Cadet Invitational in Waco this past Saturday, Sept. 30.
Macie Martinez medaled with her fourth place finish out of 151 runners for the Mexia varsity girls’ team. Martinez finished the course in a time of 12:49.
Also competing for the Mexia girls was Paulina Venegas, finishing with a time of 14:56.78; Jessica Gonzalez completed the course in a time of 15:06.86; Aislinn Venegas had a time of 15:51.52 and Kaylea Dick crossed the finish line with a time of 16:16.82.
Overall, the Mexia varsity girls finished 12th out of 19 teams competing.
For the varsity boys’ team, Diego Rivera took fourth place with a time of 17:52.33 and teammate Lalo Ortiz medaled by making it in the top 20. Ortiz (15th) finished the race with a time of 18:39.98.
