The regular season has come to a close for high school cross country and the Mexia Blackcats will be sending several athletes to compete at the regional meet coming up, including the varsity boys team after they finished second overall at the district meet last week in Fairfield.
Varsity team member Diego Rivera was up to his record setting antics during the meet. He set a new school record and a personal best time of 16:26, placing second in district and qualified for regionals individually, according to head coach Britney Dietz.
Also qualifying individually was Lalo Ortiz, who finished eighth in district.
Members of the boys team that will be competing are Angel Escamilla, Danny Prado, Juan Hernandez, Phillip Lejeune and Manny Acevedo.
