After coming close to knocking off the No. 6 ranked Fairfield, taking the Lady Eagles to five sets before falling to their district rival at home, the Mexia Ladycats traveled east to play their district rival again this past Friday.
This time, the Lady Eagles front trio of Braden Bossier, Carrington Roberts and Aaryn Scires seemed to be waiting for Mexia as Fairfield defended their home court in three sets, 25-14, 25-17, 25-18, to remain undefeated in district play and leaving the Ladycats in the No. 2 playoff seed spot with a record of 5-2.
Mexia kept pace with Fairfield in the first set, keeping within striking distance at 10-13 early on, but Bossier took command for the Lady Eagles with several kills and defensive digs to help give her team the 11-point win.
The Ladycats received great defensive play at the net from Keiana Keith, Tiesha Jones and Heaven Porch.
