Wortham Lady Bulldogs pick up 14th district win against Dawson

The No. 10 ranked Wortham Lady Bulldogs picked up sweep No. 16 Tuesday evening over the Dawson Lady Bulldogs in three sets, 25-15, 25-15, 25-16, moving to 14-0 in district play with two matches remaining before the playoffs begin.
“We came out strong in the first two sets with early leads and strong finishes,” said coach DeAnna Whaley. “The third set challenged our defense with longer rallies, but we were able to push to the strong finish.”
Kayla Lansford had one of the best matches of the season, leading the Lady Bulldogs with 22 kills, five blocked shots, four aces and four digs.
Jayde Hamilton handled the setting duties, finishing with 17 assists, seven digs, three kills and an ace serving. Darcy Taylor contributed in the setter department, getting seven assists, an ace and a dig.
