The process was long and somewhat strenuous, but the City of Mexia has found a new city manager. Eric Garrity of Fort Worth is scheduled to take the place of City Manger Larry Brown on Dec. 1. Garrity is current Budget Manager for the City of Fort Worth.
Garrity said, “I am from a small town in Mississippi myself. I was really looking to get back to a small town.”
Garrity grew up in Jackson, Miss. After graduating high school he attended college where he quickly learned it was not for him. He said, “College and I did not agree, initially. I looked at joining the Marine Corp because it is a great organization to join. I enlisted and when I made the rank of sergeant, the Corp allowed me to go to college to get my commission.”
