Mexia held back by Salado’s defense

The Mexia Blackcats game plan didn’t go the way they wanted Friday night at Eagle Stadium, plus the fact the Salado’s defense held the Blackcats to only five first downs the entire game, as the Eagles ended up on top, 28-7.
Salado chose to receive in the at the start of the game and on their first play from scrimmage, running back Cade Depoy slipped around the right side of Mexia’s defense and sprinted 65 yards for the first score of the ball game. After kicker Jake Walrath’s extra-point, the Eagles led 7-0 with 11:42 left in the opening quarter.
