Licensed counselor Angela Torp has opened an office in Mexia and is ready to help those who need a listening ear.
Torp spoke to the Mexia Lions Club, introducing herself and letting the Lions know that a licensed counselor in Limestone County is now available.
Born in McAllen, Torp grew up in Wharton. Her father had a great influence on her, first through his recommendations about a career.
“My dad gave me this great advice,” she said: “‘Get as much education as you can get, and get a certificate, a license, a diploma or a degree – something that says you know a little bit more than Joe Blow on the street.’”
Torp took her father’s advice and has a bachelor’s degree in psychology, a social work degree, a teacher’s certificate and a counselor’s certificate. She graduated from Texas A&M University-Prairie View in 1987 and has been in private practice since 2000.
