Mexia’s Macie Martinez closed out her high school cross-country career this past Saturday, finishing in the Top 25 of the Class 4A girl’s race at the 2017 UIL State XC Meet in Round Rock.
Martinez came in at No. 22 out of 149 competitors with a time of 12:15.97, setting yet another school record for the Ladycats cross-country program.
She broke her own school record at the district meet in Fairfield a few weeks ago with a time of 12:20 and with the new record, nearly five full seconds were cut off it at the state meet.
Martinez - the lone entry from Mexia - bested her time and placement at last year’s state meet, where she ran a 12:35.01 and placed 56th overall out of the field of 151.
