Wortham VB team finishes post season as Region II regional quarterfinalist

The No. 6 ranked Wortham Lady Bulldogs put up a valiant fight against the No. 1 ranked Crawford Lady Pirates Monday evening in their Class 2A regional quarterfinals volleyball match in Waco.
The Lady Pirates (42-7) ended up with the three-set sweep, 25-16, 25-8, 25-18, to move into the regional semifinals of the regional tournament this weekend.
Wortham (30-14) trailed in the match 2-0 and looked to be on their way to a win in the third set after leading 17-11, but Crawford switched gears and outscored the Lady Bulldogs, 14-1, for the set and match win.
The Lady Bulldogs were making their 20th consecutive appearance in the playoffs after sweeping through district play with a perfect 16-0 record. During the regular season and in district, Wortham had a 17-game streak where they swept their opponents and in their last 21 games, the team is 60-6 in sets won/loss.
