Thanks to @TXHSFB’s Tony Blalock, I didn’t have to spend countless hours toiling over how many different playoff scenarios there are in District 9-4A DII heading into this Friday night’s games.
The Mexia Blackcats upset first place Fairfield at home, 19-14. The loss left Fairfield in a first-place tie with the Salado Eagles and put Mexia (2-2) in a three-way tie for third with Lorena and Waco Connally. Blalock shows eight different scenarios that could take place Friday night.
Mexia, Lorena, Connally win, three-way tie for third place, which will most likely come down to points. No. 2 - Mexia, Lorena, Salado win, both the Blackcats and Leopards are in the playoffs. No. 3 - Mexia, Fairfield, Connally win, the Eagles get first, Salado second, Connally and Mexia make it in at the No. 3 and four seeds. No. 4 - Mexia, Fairfield, Salado win, Mexia gets the third seed and Lorena becomes the fourth seed. No. 5 - Robinson, Lorena, Connally win, Lorena is No. 3 and Connally is the fourth seed. No. 6 - Robinson, Lorena, Salado win … see scenario No. 5. No. 7 - Robinson, Fairfield, Connally win, Connally is third and Mexia fourth. No. 8, the final scenario - Robinson, Fairfield, Salado win, we’re back to tie-breaker mode again between Connally, Lorena and Mexia.
