Fashion show flairs style in thrift store offerings

Caritas Thrift Store, of Mexia, held a fashion show last weekend to show the public that those who search the Caritas clothing racks can find stylish selections at very reasonable prices.
The fashion show, held Saturday, Nov. 4, was the brainchild of several board members, including Rick Washington.
“All I did was ask, ‘Why can’t we let the people know what we have?’” Washington said. “Because a lot of people didn’t think we have nice-enough clothes for them to shop. So we as a board agreed on it. We wanted to show the type of clothes we have at Caritas, to get more customers in.”
Caritas President Connie McGilvray confirmed the concept.
“We wanted more people to be aware of what the retail store has to offer and how cheap it is,” McGilvray said “Dresses and pants are a dollar; slacks and shirts are 50 cents. Coats are $3. So it is a good buy.”
