Article Image Alt Text

Jada Shirl Allen-Dugas was the fifth child born to Johnnie (Mims) Johnson and Oscar Allen on May 22, 1964.

Jada confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized at Rocky Creek Baptist Church in Mart. Later, the family moved to Waco and she became an active member of Carver Park Baptist Church. She graduated from La Vega High School in Waco and continued her education at McLennan Community College, where she earned her associate’s degree and then a BS from North Texas State University, Denton. After college, she relocated to Dallas and became and remained a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Hamilton Park, Richardson, until her departure.

Jada, also affectionately known as “Bugg,” “Chicken,” “Po Chickenz” and “Chicken Hawk,” was a perfectionist and always on time. Whenever one would see her, she always had a joke for you and would keep you laughing.

In March 1995, Jada was diagnosed with Lupus and over the last 20 years she fought valiantly in her battle with Lupus and diabetes. Her health may have been failing, however her faith never wavered. She was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Allen; her brother, Davian Kinsey; and grandmothers Mable Allen and Sue Willie Kinsey.

She is survived by her parents, Charles and Johnnie Johnson; father, Oscar Allen; three sisters, Greta Allen of Grand Prairie and Sheila Allen and Stacey (BJ) Ware of Waco; two brothers, Tony (Dana) Allen of Waco and Mario Kinsey of Grand Prairie; four nieces, Josalyn Allen, Brittney Ware, Jakalya Ray and Rihyana Kinsey ; three nephews, Bradley Allen, Baylon Ware and Reh Jones; great nephew, Davian Allen ; granny, Louise Howard; great aunt, Ethel Harrell Williams; aunts, Katherine West; Doris Kinsey-Bennett; Linda Kinsey; Mattie Allen and Ruth Brown; uncles, Alfred Kinsey, Jesse Kinsey and Larry Kinsey; best friend, Cindy Shier-Schimschat; and close friends, Connie Coleman, Stephany Tolbert- Green, Mae Jones and Kathy Louis.
