Coolidge man OK after being shot in scuffle with intruder

A Coolidge man drove himself to a local convenience store early Tuesday morning, Aug. 21, to call for help after being shot by an intruder at his home, according to a Limestone County Sheriff’s Office report. The victim, whose name was not released, reported he left for work before 6 a.m. Tuesday when he was alerted by a security system that there was someone in his home. He returned and entered the house and confronted the intruder.

Like a potter’s wheel God can make us into what He wants

In the 18h chapter of Jeremiah, the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah and told him to go down to the potter’s house and observe what he was doing. For those of you who have ever made a piece of pottery, you will understand this. The Potter was the guy who made drinking vessels and pitchers and bowls and plates that people used to eat their meals upon. He may have sold them to a merchant who then sold them to the people of the community, but he was the guy who made the eating and drinking utensils in the day. And as he made them, he began by placing a lump of wet clay on the potter’s wheel, which was a round table that he was able to spin around and around as he formed that lump of clay into the vessel he wanted. Sometimes he would accidently put a dent into the shape of a particular vessel, so he would take that piece of clay and start all over again until he had it in the shape he wanted before he put it into the kiln, which was a kind of oven that baked the clay into a useful vessel to be sold. Now as Jeremiah watched the potter, the potter accidently misshaped it, so he had to start all over again in order to make it into the vessel of his choice.
