This week at Mexia LTC we started the week with Bible study provided by Irma Carranza on Monday morning. Residents played bingo that afternoon. Residents enjoyed Bible group with Bob Kersten on Tuesday morning. Resi-dents had bowling and enjoyed snow cones with McKenna from Solaris Hospice on Tuesday afternoon.

A ramshackle house on East Hopkins Street in Mexia sits on a lot overgrown with weeds and cascaded by rotting siding. This peeling structure is emblematic of the glitches that have wrought havoc on home values in the county and the entity tasked with assessing them — havoc that includes a canceled contract and the chief appraiser’s resignation.
