CHARLES EDGAR ROTHROCK

Charles Edgar Rothrock entered the gates of Heaven on Sunday, May 8, 2022. He crossed over from Ascension Providence Hospital in Waco.

Charles was born on Dec. 7, 1954, at Christoffer and Edgar Hospital in Mexia, to Joseph Sanford and Bessie Marie Tomlin Rothrock. He was a lifelong resident of Mexia.

Charles worked as a firefighter/paramedic and police officer for the city of Mexia. For the last 23 plus years, Charles worked as a truck driver for various companies.

On Feb. 14, 1999, Charles married the love of his life, Betty Hicks, in Mexia.

Charles was an amazing father, husband, brother, grandfather and friend. Spending time with family and friends was the highlight of his life. He loved to socialize, do stand-up comedy and play poker at the casino. He was witty and had a laugh that would light up a crowd. Charles loved helping people. He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J.S. and Bessie Rothrock; brother, Joseph Sanford Rothrock Jr.; grandparents, Homer and Elvis Rhodes Tomlin and James Calvin (Jim) and Minnie Lee Waldrep Rothrock.

Charles is survived by his loving wife, Betty Rothrock; daughter, Kayla Joyce Cargile (Kiber Silva); granddaughter and the light of his life, Kadynce June Silva; sisters, Laura Elizabeth Rothrock, Sandra Kay Hensley (Larry Hensley) and Betty Jo Lockler; brother, James Homer Rothrock; nephews, David Wayne Rothrock, Kenneth Rothrock, Homer Wayne Hensley, Michael Litz Hensley, Benny Joe Lockler III, Brian Jacob Lockler, William Tomlin Rothrock and Zachary Scott Rothrock; niece, Becky Jean Lockler; and sister-in-law, Jo Pulliam.

His nephew, Kenneth Rothrock, said “Heaven received a true saint. He was so looked up to by his family and friends. He was a giant of a man with a heart the size of Texas!”

There is no service, nor visitation, planned at this time.
