Donna Mae Lansford

Donna Mae Lansford passed away July 11, 2019, in Waco, at the age of 79. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m., Sunday, July 14, at Blair-Stubbs Chapel, with Pastor Cary Killough officiating. Interment will be in the Lost Prairie Cemetery.

Donna was born Sept. 24, 1939, in Groesbeck, to Finus Lennaman and Dorothy Marie Rogers Sims. She was a graduate of Mexia High School, where she played volleyball. Donna married her lifelong partner, Bobby Joe Lansford, in Groesbeck.

After moving to Waco in 1978, she went to work for Waco ISD and taught at Gurley Elementary for 20-plus years, prior to retiring.

Donna loved animals and rescued numerous dogs and cats; she also enjoyed singing, dancing, swimming, water skiing and sports of all types. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Hewitt.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Finus and Dorothy Sims; husband Bobby Lansford; and daughter Shannon Lansford Weber.

Donna is survived by her son, Brandon Lansford, of Houston; grandchildren Natalee Shanks, of Waco, and Cory Weber, of Waco; great-grandchildren Wyatt Shanks and Preston Weber; sister Beth King, of Dallas; niece Sharman Gillen, of Dallas; and nephew Dean King, of Dallas.
