Homer Collins Eddings

Mr. Homer Collins Eddings of Wortham passed away on January 8, 2019. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church Wortham with Jan and Susan Pate officiating. Interment will be at the Wortham Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday morning 9:00 – 10:00 at the First United Methodist Church Wortham prior to the service.

Homer Collins Eddings was born December 13, 1919 in Nacogdoches, Texas to Ernest and Henrietta Collins Eddings. He married Margaret McLelland and the two of them shared 76 years of marriage before her death in June of 2018. They were avid travelers having visited all 50 states and Canada and Mexico. Homer served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of the Longbotham Masonic Lodge and loved old iron and antique cars. Homer was a model father to his children showing them love and attention.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest & Henrietta Collins Eddings; 5 siblings; wife, Margaret McLelland Eddings and grandchildren, Mark O’Neil Spurgeon and Marla “Sissy” Williams. Homer is survived by his sons, Gerald Ray Eddings and Joe Eddings & wife, Kim; daughter, Linda Spurgeon; grandchildren, Zachary Eddings, Molly Eddings, Jacob Eddings, JoBeth Eddings, Marianne Walker & husband, Keith; great granddaughter Savannah Williams; brother, Jack Eddings & wife, JoAnn and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Serving as pallbearers are Anthony Blacksher, Fred Grimes, Zachary Eddings, Jacob Eddings, Joe Eddings and Gerald Eddings.
