Kenneth Ray Dabney

Kenneth Ray Dabney, 78 passed away peacefully Jan. 5, 2024, at home with his loved ones by his side. He was born on Oct. 6, 1945, in Mexia.

After graduation from Mexia High School, Ken enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served for several years. In 1975, he married his best friend Robin Chote Dabney of Henderson, and they made a life together in Irving, with their children. Together, they had four children. Ken was a devoted husband, father and friend who always had a smile on his face and joke ready for anyone. He was always present and involved in anything his children were a part of – from Scouts to sports activities, he was always there. He had a passion for fishing especially with his family. His kids and grandkids spent many hours by his side doing what he loved most.

He was in the furniture and clock business his entire career where he made many long-lasting friendships.

Ken is preceded in death by his parents, Rule Dee Dabney and Mary Alma Dabney of Mexia,; and his loving wife, Robin.

Kenneth is survived by his brother, the Rev. Ronnie Dabney and his wife Sandy Dabney of Italy, Texas. He is survived by his four children. Marla and Tom Wolfe of Spring, Melanie and Thomas Hemenway of Fairfield, Kyle and Frances Dabney of Irving, and Ashley and John Gage of Corpus Christi. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Kole, Inez, Preston, Peyton, Kolby, Alejandro, Kylie, Presley and Pailyn who loved him dearly.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan 27, at First Baptist Church in Italy, where his brother, the Rev. Ronnie Dabney, will be officiating.
