Kristal Kay Fleming

Krystal Kay Fleming, of Mexia, passed away on Nov. 13, 2018 in Waco, at the age of 36.  Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 17, at Blair-Stubbs Chapel with the Rev. Marcus Sheffield officiating.  Interment will follow in the Point Enterprise Cemetery.  rian Scott Fleming, Matt McGilvary, Jeremy Fleming, Keith Fleming, Brandon Fleming and Jonathan Fleming will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation with the family will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home.

Krystal was born Oct. 28, 1982 in Mexia to Jerry Lynn and Karen Sue Pelham Fleming.  Krystal was a loving mother, daughter and sister, in addition to being a devoted friend to many.  She dedicated her life to her family and was a hard worker. She had a lust for life and cherished every moment with family and friends.  Krystal had an outgoing spirit and knew no stranger.  She was well-loved by everyone she knew and even those she may have just met.

The greatest and most cherished event of her life was the birth of her son, Jordan.  It was said that she had a smile that would light up a room and a heart just as beautiful as she was.  She had a laugh that was unmistakable and infectious.

After graduation from Mexia High School in 2001, Krystal began working at Charlie Allen’s convenient store.  She was dedicated to helping and serving others.  She obtained a Certified Nursing Aide license and worked for several nursing home facilities prior to going to work in the residential life department at the Mexia State Supported Living Center.  She rose to the position of assistant charge before accepting the position of Physical and Nutritional Management Plan coordinator in the Habilitation Program department.

Krystal enjoyed riding the four-wheeler, horses, going to the beach, buying and raising tropical fish but, most of all, she loved being with her son and talking to friends.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, J.O. Pelham of Groesbeck; and paternal grandparents, Weldon H. “Buddy” and Dell Fleming of Mexia.

Krystal is survived by her loving son, Jordan Lee Runnels of Mexia; parents, Jerry and Karen Fleming of Mexia; brother, Brian Scott Fleming and wife, Michelle of Waco; maternal grandmother, Rubinell Pelham of Groesbeck; and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
