Nancy Kuykendall

Nancy Jean (Lowe) Kuykendall, 67, of Hubbard, passed away Thursday, Oct. 3, 2019, at her home surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6 at First Baptist Church, Hubbard with the Rev. William Dollar and the Rev. Ricky Woodall officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Hubbard. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at Wade Funeral Home.

Nancy was born June 26, 1952, in San Antonio to Ed and Shirley (Bounds) Lowe while her dad was stationed at Fort Sam Houston. The family moved to Hubbard when she was in the seventh grade (1965) and she had been a resident ever since. Nancy was very active in school activities as she was in the Jaguarettes Drill Team, was a cheerleader and salutatorian of her graduating class of 1970. She later attended Navarro Junior College for two years where she was captain of the Senoritas Drill Team.

Nancy married Glenn Kuykendall on Jan. 8, 1972, and they raised their three children, Karen, Angela and Jeffrey, in Hubbard. Early in her working career, Nancy worked for several banks and savings and loans in Corsicana, Waco and Hubbard before spending 12 years working for Hugh and Sharon Warren’s business, Commoncents. In 1997, she began a 23-year career as the business manager for Coolidge ISD, a position from which she just recently retired.

Nancy loved her family dearly and enjoyed watching her children’s and then grandchildren’s many endeavors at school and on the athletic fields and had attended several Jaguars football games this fall. As a youth in Hubbard, Nancy was a member of First Baptist Church but had later joined the Hubbard Missionary Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and played the piano for over 50 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Glenn Kuykendall of Hubbard; three children, Karen and Jaime Ryman of Hubbard, Angela Kuykendall of College Station and Jeffrey and Melissa Kuykendall of Lorena; four grandchildren, MJ Ryman, Jesse Merle Ryman, Shelby Joy Kuykendall and Hudson Glenn Kuykendall; two brothers, John and Pam Lowe of Highland Village and James Lowe of Blanco; sister, Sarah and Scott Bennett of Hubbard; in-laws, Herb and Kay Kuykendall of Mount Calm and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and other extended family members and countless friends.

Pallbearers will be Tommy LaVergne, Herb Kuykendall, James Ryman, Mike Kuykendall, Chris Kuykendall, John Kuykendall and John Baker.

Honorary pallbearers will be David LaVergne, Wayne Kuykendall, Jimmy Kelly and Robert Lowrey.

The family requests that memorials or donations be made to Hubbard Missionary Baptist Church, c/o Kay Kuykendall, 1527 SH 31, Mount Calm, Texas 76673.
