Nathelyn Butler

Nathelyn Butler passed away Dec.7, 2022, at 85.

Nathelyn was born Oct. 19, 1937, in Corsicana to Janie Howell and Rex Butler. Her father worked at Rheem Manufacture and then later became involved in real estate. Growing up as an only child in Dallas, she took piano lessons, which she loved. She even played piano as a teenager in her youth group. She was very interested in studying her family’s ancestry and loved to read. Nathelyn liked to talk and tell stories. In junior high, she moved to Bellflower, Calif., and graduated from Bellflower High School.

After receiving her bachelor’s degree from a college in California, Nathelyn became a teacher. She loved children and enjoyed telling them stories. In her free time, she made doll furniture, dolls, and other crafts for children. Moving to Missouri and then returning to Texas, she loved to travel. Her passion for piano and reading continued throughout her life. In this way, her talents brought joy to the lives of others.

Nathelyn was loyal to those she loved but also enjoyed her alone time. She cared for her mother until she had to go into a nursing home. With her kind heart, Nathelyn was strong in her faith. She used her talent for piano to glorify God, playing in church as a child and later in nursing homes.

Nathelyn leaves behind her cousin and caregiver, Shelley Paradoski; and her husband, Don Paradoski; in addition to numerous cousins on both her mother’s and father’s sides.

To honor Nathelyn’s life, visitation with family and friends will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Dec. 15 at Corley-Porter Funeral Home in Mexia. Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m. at Wortham Cemetery.
