Wanda Ruth aRmstRong mccoRd Jones

 Graveside services for Wanda Jones, 77, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, at Woodland Cemetery near Kirvin. Brother Jimmy Tucker will officiate.

Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 2 p.m. at the cemetery.

Wanda Ruth Armstrong McCord Jones passed away on Friday, Dec. 16, 2022, at her residence in Kirvin. She was born in Waxahachie on July 21, 1945, but grew up in Fort Worth. She lived in Wortham for many years before moving to Mt. Calm where she also spent many years before returning to Freestone County to live in Kirvin for the past 10 years. Wanda worked for the Mexia State School until retirement, and later returned to work for the Mt. Calm ISD as a paraprofessional working with the Pre-K class. Mrs. Jones enjoyed gardening and growing flowers, but most of all she loved her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. She was known to everyone as “Nana” and embraced that role.

Wanda was a member of the Mt. Calm Church of Christ.

She is survived by three children, Clovie Don Mc-Cord and wife Donna, Tena Mabile and husband Todd, and Shade McCord and Betty Clakely, all of Kirvin; two step-children, Donna Hamilton and Jeff Jones; 16 grandchildren, Micah Brandon McCord, Shelby Lynn McCord, Monica Barton and husband William, Micah Elizabeth Sandlin, Mariah Edmonds and husband Colton, Erin Tacker and husband Bud, Heather Smith, Holden Tate McCord, Hannah McCord, Blair Brown, Lana Long, Sydney Jones, Abby Jones, Jaime Zepeda, Justin Mabile, and Colten Mabile; 17 great-grandchildren, Madden, Madison, Khloe, Shayla, Jerzee, Kemper, Kopen, Vivian, Annie, Jet, Jackson, Dylan, Dane, Cash, Cameron, Colten, and Camille; three brothers, Larry Armstrong and wife Jackie, Donnie Armstrong and wife Susan, and Randy Armstrong and wife Pam; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and many friends including special friends, Alice Price, Stacy and Paul King, and Tonya and Johnny Edgett.

Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by two husbands, Shade Carlton “Corky” Mc-Cord, and Jimmy Sid Jones; one grandson, Jesse Don McCord; her parents, Clovie Ansel and Mary Armstrong; six brothers, L.B. Armstrong, Raymond Armstrong, Aymond Armstrong, Clovie Armstrong, Otis Armstrong, and Steve Armstrong; and her special friends, Sammie Lee Davis and Treon Irwin.
