Ronnie Pat ‘RP’ Spillers

Ronnie Pat “RP” Spillers, born March 18, 1935, in Mexia to Roy and Mary Spillers, passed away peacefully at Rose Trail Nursing and Rehab in Tyler, surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2022, at the age of RP graduated from Mexia High School in Mexia, Class of 1954. He was an exceptional football player (offensive tackle and defensive lineman), lettering all four years. Coach Truett Little was his coach at that time. He earned a full scholarship to Rice University in Houston. RP turned down the scholarship to stay home and work in the oil field with his dad. Many years later he went on to become a master carpenter, home-builder and custom cabinet-builder, owning a successful company in Tyler.

Jimmy John Steele

Jimmy John Steele, 78, of Groesbeck, passed away Sept. 27, 2022, in Temple. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at Jones Funeral Services Chapel. Steele was born on June 17, 1944, in Oletha, to John Thomas and Hazel Martin Steele. He was a member of the community his whole life and was the owner/operator of Steele’s Landscaping.

Bonnie Sue Jones

Bonnie Sue Jones, 73, of Corpus Christi, passed away Oct. 12, 2022, at Angel Bright Hospice Center in Corpus Christi. Jones was born Nov. 8, 1949, in Waco to Afton and Lillie Tull and graduated from Chilton High School. She loved to crochet, read Stephen King books and be with her girls, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
