Joanne Penney Parten
Joanne Penney Parten, 83, of Groesbeck, passed away on March 19, 2019, at Parkview Regional Hospital in Mexia. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 21, at Corley-Porter Funeral Home in Mexia with the Rev. Bill Wright Sr. officiating. Interment will be in the Prairie Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, March 21, at Corley-Porter Funeral Home.
Joanne was born Sept. 1, 1935, in Kerens to Floyd and Jessie Belle Thompson Penney. She served as a greeter at the Mexia Wal-Mart before retiring.
Joanne was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe Lloyd Parten; and son, Glenn Ross Jester.
She is survived by her son, Clayton Allen Parten of Groesbeck; daughter, Lorra Sue Newman and husband Robin of Mt. Pleasant; son, Davis Jester of Houston; daughter-in-law, Stephanie Parten of Groesbeck; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
