The Mexia Garden Club began its first meeting of the year with the President’s Tea. It was held at the Fellowship Hall at the First Baptist Church. Hostesses were officers Ed Cox, Judy Speer, President Gayle Beene, Patty Manley , Carol Matthews and Chuckeia Parker-Dickson.

Quilt show next weekend

The third biannual Point Enterprise Quilt Show will be from 10 a.m. 20 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, in the Community Church. Brand new quilts as well as antique quilts will be displayed on the 130-year old pews (far left photo), with wall-hangings, table -runners, and other quilted items on display. Hand-quilting will be demonstrated with a vendor stand sell-ing quilting work. Homemade cookies and coffee will be free. Entrance fee is $5. There will be a queen-sized, handmade quilt (left photo) raffled. Chances are $5 each. The church is locat-ed at 461 LCR 502, Point Enterprise.
