The bread of communion
Recently, I asked my fellow co-workers what came to their minds when I said the word “bread.” Bread pudding, yum. Money, that was a surprise. Carbs, of course. Wonder Bread, the first pre-sliced bread sold in America in 1930. Did you know that American consumers had to be reassured that this new bread would not dry out, which if you think about it, is totally logical. And then, of course, there’s the early 70’s soft rock band, who was standing on the corner considering what they should call themselves when “a bread truck came along…We had been saying, ‘How about bush, telephone pole? Ah, bread truck, bread.” It began with a B, like the Beatles and the Bee Gees. Bread, good name.
